Ayesha Takia s Wedding Postponed
Dec 3, 2008

Ayesha Takia was supposed to wed restaurateur Farhan Azmi on Christmas Eve but her wedding has now been postponed to mid-2009. All this thanks to the terror attacks in Mumbai. The groom, Farhan confirmed the news saying,”Ayesha is currently in Greece shooting a song for Boney Kapoor’s Wanted. The groom-to-be confirms, “When Ayesha heard the news of the attacks, she broke down. Dad (SP party leader Abu Azmi), was in a hospital recuperating from an operation; he too started crying when he heard about the terrorist attacks. None of us are in the mood for any celebrations this year. Our mood is too grim and somber. There can be no wedding celebrations as of now maybe mid-2009 and that too it will be a small and private affair.” Farhan adds, “We are all shaken up by what happened. I saw it happening next door, as Nariman House is seven buildings away from our home and very close to the Taj and Oberoi hotels. When the Oberoi was sealed, many guests came from there to Koyla and Café Basilico (both owned by Farhan). None wanted to stay, so I took them home. On the first night from Koyla, which is 500m away from the Taj, we could see the fire burning on the sixth floor and hear women and children screaming to be let out ‘please help us’… It still gives me goose bumps to even think about it.” Ayesha had informed all her producers and directors that she will quit acting after she gets married and she intended to wrap all her committments before December.
Ayesha Takia s Wedding On March 1st
Feb 18, 2009
Bollywood actress Ayesha Takia (heroine of Puri Jagannath's Super in Telugu) will tie the knot with her long-time boyfriend Farhan Azmi, a restaurateur and son of Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi, on March 1st in Mumbai as per Muslim tradition. From Tollywood, action hero Nagarjuna and director Puri Jagannath are expected to attend the reception to be held on March 2nd. In fact, the wedding was supposed to take place in December, but was postponed due to the terrorist attacks in Mumbai. Ayesha Takia is currently busy with six Hindi films: Prabhu Deva's Wanted: Dead And Alive opposite Salman Khan, Nagesh Kukunoor's Eight by Ten opposite Akshay Kumar, Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai!, Naughty at Forty, Milind Ukey's Paathshala opposite Shahid Kapoor and Nikhil Advani's Ab Dilli Door Nahin. Wanted Dead And Alive is the Hindi remake of Tamil hit Pokkiri, starring Vijay and Asin in the lead. The Two Lovers have been going steady for many years and have decided to solemnize their relationship through marriage. We hope that even after marriage, the actress continues doing good work and gives us subtle and fine performances like the one in Dor, a small budget film in which she plays the role of a young widowed Rajasthani woman living in a traditional joint family. She went on to win several awards for her performance in Dor, including the Zee Cine Critics' Award for Best   http://www.ayeshatakiapics.com/uploaded_files/photo_gallery/ayesha_takia-3.jpg
Ayesha Takia Biding Goodbye To Films
Feb 13, 2009
With Ayesha Takia all set to tie the knot with long time beau Farhan Azmi, there is a strong buzz in the industry circles that she will not sign any new films thereafter and bow out of the film industry. An industry source revealed, "Ayesha has Three major films on hand presently, the Salman Khan starrer Wanted Dead And Alive which is almost complete and Revathy Kumar's Phir Tum Mile starring R. Madhavan and Jaya Bachchan. Her Akshay Kumar starrer Eight By Ten is Ready for release this April. That apart she is playing a cameo role in Ahmed Khan's Paathshala and giving her voice for animated feature Ab Dilli Door Nahin. Despite her marriage drawing closer she just recently signed the Madhavan starrer, the reason being she wanted to bid goodbye with a strong woman-oriented subject where she had a substantial role to play. Also what got her more excited about the project was that the film is to be shot in a one stop schedule in April. Now though more offers are continuing to pour in for her, she is in no mood to sign any more projects. In her many interviews Ayesha had earlier expressed her wish to stop acting after marriage. So, since now she has completely stopped signing any more projects, its being understood that she is finally biding goodbye to the industry." Her boyfriend Farhan is the son of controversial leader of Samajwadi Party, Abu Asim Azmi. He runs his own hotel business and his two restaurants Cafe Basilico and Koyla are quiet famous eateries in Mumbai. Though Ayesha didn't enjoy many successes in films, her roles in Socha Na Tha, Dor and Yun Hota To Kya Hota were widely appreciated.

Hot Ayesha Takia Looking Gorgeous On Filmfare Latest Issue
Dec 3, 2008
Talking about Ayesha Takia, the first thing which comes to your mind is SOMETHING but am not here to talk about that. Moreover, her eyebrows shield the whole world, wine filled eyes, a perfect nose and dont even talk about how beautiful her face is. She is tall and has broad shoulders. She is a perfect early woman, an early encestor, may be she is a Goddess.

Ayesha Takia Wants Action
Jun 7, 2008
It seems like Ayesha Takia has been motivated by her contemporary actresses and wants to take up action. She wants to do what Priyanka Chopra has done in Shah Rukh Khan's DON and is once again doing it in the upcoming Abhishek Bachchan starrer, DRONA. Even Deepika Padukone's martial arts prowess in Akshay Kumar's CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA seems to have inspired her. The normally sober Koena Mitra too is doing her own stunts in the proposed Hollywood flick KARMA. As per Ayesha she has already worked in most genres and now wants to prove herself as an action star. She adds that action movies are all set to make a comeback. Well dear Ayesha, here is a suggestion, why not try some stunts/action in your Salman Khan starrer WANTED DEAD AND ALIVE!

Ayesha Takia Is Fond Of Kids
May 8, 2009

Recently on the sets of ‘Paathshala’, Ayesha Takia was seen with a bunch of kids. The other group was busy in shooting for the Ahmed Khan film. The set was looking like a huge boarding school. Ayesha confirmed, “It is good to be around children. They can shoot for twenty hours together and not run out of energy. They compliment me on my hair. One of them asked me if my cheeks are real.” She also says, “Despite all the masti, there are rules to be followed on the sets. Ahmed Sir after all has a film to complete and makes sure the fun is organised and controlled. There is no smoking on the sets, no shouting.” Ayesha’s role had to be shortened to accommodate the roles of the kids. But she has no problem with it. She likes the script and the fact that Ahmed and his wife, Shaira are like family friends to her.

My Acting Talent Was Recognised After Dor Ayesha Takia
May 8, 2009
Young and chirpy actress Ayesha Takia considers Nagesh Kukunoor’s “Dor”, a poignant tale of two women, as the path-breaking film of her career. She says after the movie, people started taking her seriously as an actor. “After ‘Dor’, viewers showed the confidence that I could play serious roles too and so I was offered roles in films like ‘Eight By Ten’ and ‘Wanted’ and many other big movies,” Ayesha told IANS. Ayesha is on the verge of completing another Kukunoor film titled “Eight By Ten”. “Ten days of shooting is left. It also stars Akshay Kumar,” said Ayesha who plays Akshay’s wife in the supernatural thriller. Her next release is “De Taali”, which will be showcased at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards, starting June 6 in Bangkok. Talking about the film, the dimpled actress said: “The character is totally in contrast to what I am in actual life. I play Ammu who is a complete tomboy. She is a complete brat and grows up with Aftab Shivdasani and Reitesh Deshmukh. She does what normally guys do.” Apart from “De Taali”, she has Boney Kapoor’s “Wanted Dead And Alive”, which marks southern dancing superstar Prabhu Deva’s entry into Hindi films as director. The film is a remake of Tamil film “Pokkiri”, which was also directed by Prabhu Deva. In the action movie, Ayesha is paired with Salman Khan. Mahesh Manjrekar and Om Puri too feature in key roles. The actress is also doing Ahmed Khan’s film on four children titled “Pathshala” where she and Shahid Kapur play teachers. Though “Tarzan - The Wonder Car”, for which she won the best debutant actress award in 2004, was released before “Socha Na Tha,” Ayesha considers Imtiaz Ali’s romantic comedy as her debut film. She said: “‘Socha Na Tha’ will always be my first film and close to my heart. ‘Tarzan’ was an entertaining film but ‘Socha Naa Tha’ had a lot of space for acting.’ Was she approached for Imtiaz’s second film “Jab We Met”? “Initially, Bobby and I were supposed to do the film, but the dates did not work out between us. But, I look forward to working with Imtiaz.” The actress faced the camera for the first time when she was four years old for an ad and later she did quite a few commercials and music videos. How difficult was it to gain entry into films? “It was not at all difficult. I did not go looking for work. Imtiaz went through my audition tapes and called me to his office.” Ayesha feels that making an entry is not at all difficult if one has the talent and is ready to work hard. So far Ayesha has worked mainly with new directors - does she have a preference for them? “I don’t have any preferences and I cannot afford it. It is just that the offers came from them. And it is always an exciting experience as new directors are always enthusiastic and hard working and give everything for the project as they know that their life depends on the project.” Did she plan to be an actress as a child? “I was raised in a normal Gujarati style with all the restrictions and reservations. As far as plans are concerned, I did not have plans to become an actress in my childhood.” About a favourite co-star, Ayesha said: “I am not being diplomatic, I enjoyed working with all of them. Also, I am a very professional type of person. I finish my work and go home. I have no favourites, I enjoyed working with all of them.” Apparently Ayesha makes producers sign a contract on her reservations about intimate and steamy scenes. She said: “Yes, I do sign a contract with every producer and mother has nothing to do with it. I have lived life according to my own principles and ideologies and I adhere to it.” The 23-year-old has done various roles ranging from comedy to serious characters, but prefers romantic movies. “I would like to do romantic films most and my second preference would be serious roles. Though I am not comfortable with stunts, I would definitely like to do an action film like ‘Tomb Raider’.” She is dating Farhan Azmi and has started a boutique hotel business with him, but has no immediate plans to marry him.

Ayesha Losing Roles By Refusing To Strip Kiss
May 8, 2009
Ayesha Takia is shooting down roles that require her to wear skimpy clothes or get intimate with her co-star because she doesn’t want to embarrass her family and boyfriend. Ayesha is aware that her more uninhibited colleagues are benefiting while she refuses to get bold on camera. “But I don’t mind losing out on roles. At least 10 years from now I don’t want to look back and cringe at anything. I’ve a family and a boyfriend. And I don’t want to embarrass anyone,” Ayesha, who was recently seen in “Sunday” in a clean role, told IANS. “There’re things that I wouldn’t do, like kiss and wear certain kinds of clothes. And yes that does put me at a disadvantage. But I’m very happy with the work that I’m getting. After ‘Dor’, I’m being taken seriously as an actress.” She said no to Nagesh Kukunoor, who made “Dor”. “I just couldn’t do the kissing scene in ‘Aashayein’. We tried to find a way out, but it didn’t work out for me. Fortunately, for me, Nagesh is a dear friend. He didn’t hold my ‘no’ against me. We completed ‘Tasveer’ with Akshay Kumar in Canada. And there was nothing there to make me uncomfortable.” The actress has an exciting year ahead with films with big-league heroes. “I’m working with Akshay Kumar in Nagesh Kukunoor’s supernatural-psychological thriller ‘Tasveer’. Then I’ve Prabhu Deva’s ‘Wanted’, an action film with Salman Khan. Here I don’t have much to do. I hang around doing whatever leading ladies do - sing, dance and purse my lips when the hero fights.” Candid in her self-assessment, she sees a boyfriend as no impediment to her career. “In fact, I’m so glad Farhan is no part of the industry. And that he’s a self-made man who loves me for who I am. I don’t think having a boyfriend is any problem for a career. “The only annoying part of having a boyfriend is that every time I’ve a release I’m informed by the press that I’m getting married in two months. It irritates me. When I get married I’ll announce it from the rooftops. I’m proud of my boyfriend.” Last year she had a rough patch when “Salaam-e-Ishq” and “No Smoking” bombed. “Everyone kept asking why I reappeared in ‘No Smoking’ in a double role. I’d like all questions about that film to be directed to Anurag Kashyap. I’ve no clue. It was a small role, just 10 days’ work. I’d do another film for Anurag anytime. He’s a friend.”

Ayesha Got Two Roles In One Film
May 8, 2009
Signed for one role, Ayesha Takia finally got two roles in Anurag Kashyap’s film “No Smoking”. The actress said: “Anurag Kashyap has been a good friend for five years. We always wanted to work together. Initially, ‘No Smoking’ didn’t have much for me to do. It was a small role of John’s wife. But finally Anurag Kashyap gave me two roles in ‘No Smoking’ - of John’s wife and his secretary. “Another actress was to play the secretary. He turned two characters into a double role for me. Not just that, he added scenes as the film progressed. I guess someone somewhere likes me.”

Ayesha Ties The Knot With Farhan
Mar 2, 2009
Ayesha Takia nd Farhan Azmi had a quiet nikaah with close friends and family at Farhan's restaurant in Colaba last night. Says an eyewitness, "It was a simple, private ceremony with only close friends and family being present; around 200 people were present. Ayesha and Farhan's outfits were traditional ones and not made by any designers. While Farhan wore a white sherwani, Ayesha wore a gold sharara." Tonight, Ayesha's mother, Faridah and Farhan's parents, Zaheda and Abu Azmi, will host a dinner and reception for the newly-wedded couple at the CCI Stadium in Churchgate where over 5000 guests are expected.
